shopSCAD ♥ Andre 3000

Andre 3000 of Outkast stopped in at shopSCAD Savannah today to shop for awhile.
I adore his quirky sense of style and LOVED every minute of his visit!
I watched as he wrapped thick strands of hand-knotted silk pearls around his wrist fashioning them into a bracelet for himself. (He didn’t end up purchasing but made a note of it in his phone to remember). He stared into the jewelry cases and seemed to appreciate so many different types of work by various artists. Whitney and I had so much fun pulling out the things he spied and we suggested some of our favorites too.

During his visit, I was meeting with jewelry artist Sam Norgard to buy new work for the shopSCAD. Andre could not help but notice her trays of sparkling gems so they were introduced. I did not take any pics of him directly as I did not want to set him ill at ease. However, Sam was more than happy to oblige me with a few to share with you!

He was struck by Paige Hathaway Thorn’s beautiful hand-dyed and printed silk scarves. He located our dressing room mirror and tied a bright turquoise/orange scarf loose and low slung across his hips exclaiming of how much he loved it and how beautiful.

The day has been fun!
Shortly after Andre left we had the pleasure of SCAD President Paula Wallace stopping in with some guests to shop. I always enjoy showing her the newest work from SCAD artists. She really enjoyed these new jewelry pieces by Chelsea Nicholas which happens to be a former student of Sam Norgard. I bet you can see the influence in her work–see cuff image below!
