"My work has to do with the analyzation, simplification and glorification of life. The latter two may seem contradictory, but allow me to explain. I wish to bring the view down to the human level and focus on those things that affect us all, hence simplification. In so doing I am glorifying the life and process of simplicity. I have found a natural inherent influence in my work stemming from my parents and other family. I look at my father as a furniture-maker who is steadfast in his methods and providential in his living. His love for urban and rural artifacts alike has invaded my work. He has taught me to find the story and the beauty in everything, from cobweb infested barns, run-down tile factories, and blacksmiths’ shops; even down to a shovelhead so used and worn that it’s tip is now corroded five inches back. This is the stuff of life. This is the nitty-gritty." —Adam Smith
