Amy Pilkington was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1971. She moved to Greenwich, Conn., with her family in 1983 and graduated cum laude from Greenwich Academy in 1989. She went on to earn her B.S. degree in communication studies from Northwestern University in 1993. After graduating Pilkington pursued an interest in interior design in Chicago, which led her to design and manufacture custom bronze hardware. When clients saw the sculptural quality of her metal work, jewelry commissions ensued. She honed her technique at the Morning Glory Studio in Chicago and the renowned Cecelia Bauer Studio in New York City. After moving to Manhattan in 1999, She founded her much anticipated jewelry company, Harry & Possumtrot. Harry & Possumtrot jewelry became coveted by high profile clients such as models Christy Turlington, Eve Salivel, Mandy Moore and Clotidle and The Body Shop founder Anita Roddick and Cindy Crain of Crain’s Magazine. rnHarry & Possumtrot has been featured in Vogue, In Style Weddings, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Modern Bride, Los Angeles Magazine, Ocean Drive, Brides, Martha Stewart Weddings, Elegant Bride and Manhattan File Magazine. Harry & Possumtrot jewelry has been worn to the Emmys and featured on the runway at the Seventh on Sixth James Purcell fashion shows in New York in 2000 and 2001. The Gap Inc. commissioned Pilkington in 2001 to design a line of jewelry for Banana Republic’s 2001 season. Harry & Possumtrot was the featured jewelry line for the luxury retail Web site BestSelections.com and represented the company’s jewelry selection in their national advertising campaign in 2000. She moved to Savannah, Ga., in 2002 when the Savannah College of Art and Design awarded her a graduate fellowship to pursue her M.F.A. in metals and jewelry. Since joining the prestigious SCAD jewelry program, Pilkinton has continued with private jewelry commissions and Harry & Possumtrot has flourished. In 2004 her newest design, the ‘Neapolitan’, won First place in the SJTA Gold and Platinum division. She is pursuing an exciting new direction for Harry & Possumtrot to include bejeweled sculptural metal panels. The Savannah College of Art and Design awarded her with the 2004 award for academic excellence in metals and jewelry.
