Camden St. Claire’s interest in art began at an early age with the encouragement and inspiration of her father, who is also an artist. While growing up, her family moved across the country several times living in a total of seven states. “The constant relocating was fun but it was hard to develop close friends. In the beginning, art was just my way of occupying myself when I was bored.” Before long however, her artistic abilities became quite obvious and art took center stage. Her home-schooled education provided her the necessary time and flexibility to focus on all things creative. By the time St. Claire entered high school she knew she wanted to eventually attend Savannah College of Art and Design and study painting. In 2005 she transferred into the SCAD program on a full scholarship and the following year was awarded a graduate studio. She graduated suma cum laude in 2008 and is living and painting in Asheville, N.C.
