Jessica Pope is an artist with a B.F.A. in fibers and a minor in printmaking from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Originally from Boise, Idaho, Pope has now made Savannah her home and has opened a letterpress studio. Her interest lies in creating fuctioning art that evolves with a life its own depending on who cherishes it. Her artistic development at SCAD has focused primarily on bookmaking. The passion for making handmade books embraces her utilitarian aesthetic philosophy as well as her love of journal keeping. Other product lines exhibit her imaginative manipulation of fibers, including process art that seeks to organize diminiutive chaos into a functional and cohesive whole. She plans to continue her artistic dialogue between fibers and printmaking with her letterpress studio, which will produce hanmade books, fashionable fibers and custom decorative paper goods.
