Julie Lieberman

Julie Lieberman (Professor of Illustration)
Julie Lieberman has been an artist involved in Illustration, painting and professional sand sculpting since the mid 1980’s. Her work has appeared in Communication Arts, Print magazine, New York Daily News and in various other venues. She has co-authored three versions of “A Survey of Illustration, history and techniques” published in Korea (Design House), with Andrew Chang. Her most recent endeavor, “Spirits of Savannah“started out as an illustrated book of ghost stories revolving around the rich history and fiction of the grand, southern city. Lieberman co-authored and illustrated the book with Louis Clausi, who spent many years as a tour guide in Savannah. After living close to one another in NYC for over a decade, they finally met in Savannah, Georgia. Their love for history and storytelling led to this vibrant, visual collaboration. Out of the book project, Lieberman and Clausi created a multi-media performance bringing the stories to stage and screen at the Jepson Center. Lieberman has been teaching Illustration for thirty years, the past fifteen on the faculty at SCAD.
