“When I was young my brother hit me on the head with a bowl we used to eat popcorn out of. In kindergarten a girl in my class vomited on the carpet during a movie, and no one realized it until the lights were turned on. From then until around third grade I would feel sick at that same time every day. In fourth grade I decided to be a daredevil on the playground so I choreographed this elaborate trick involving a leap from the chin-up bar to the monkey bars a fair distance away. It went well the first couple of times so I informed my friends of the upcoming performance. I landed in the doctor’s office where I received three stitches for my efforts. A few years later I got out of bed too quickly to go to the bathroom, blacked-out, and fell backward into the bathtub. Seven stitches this time. During my senior year in high school I felt like doing something different for Valentine’s Day. I bought a dozen roses and put one on each girl’s desk in my calculus class before anyone else had arrived. They tried to guess who it was and went through every guy in the class before they got to me; it was quite funny. That same year (gasp!) I purchased a powder blue tuxedo to wear to my prom (to which I had no date). I won best dressed and the next day there were still people in my class who didn’t know who I was. The college years were a bit more kind with actual experiences and relationships and accomplishments, but I still think about those stories of my past when I need a laugh.rn I hope this had been unexpected and entertaining to read. That’s really all I aim for these days.”
