Maggie Evans was in born in Denton, Texas, in 1980. She graduated from Utah State University with a B.F.A. in illustration in 2003 and received an M.F.A. in painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008. Her drawings are personal interpretations of her surroundings. Her current portfolio is inspired by her experience working as a musician in bars throughout Georgia and South Carolina. Pulling from these memories, Maggie uses charcoal to create images of empty bars that feel both vague and familiar. Evans work is in several permanent collections throughout the United States, including the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. She was awarded a full fellowship award from the Vermont Studio Center in 2008, a Graduate Fellows Award from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2005, and has received placement awards in a number of group exhibitions including Best of Show at the 2009 Telfair Art Fair. Evans has had five solo exhibitions and has been included in several invitational shows as well as more than 30 group shows. In addition to working as an artist, she performs regularly throughout the Southeast as the bassist and vocalist of Silver Lining and David Lugo and Latin Jazz Motion.
