"I started studying architecture at thernUniversity of Puerto Rico. One summer curiosity took me to Washington, D.C., and I completed my B.S. in architecture at the Catholic University of America. After working one year in D.C. with an architectural firm, I pursued my Master in architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon completion, I took a year off to do some artistic soul searching. This search led me to the Savannah College of Art and Design. I studied for two years as a graduate student of furniture design at the college. I found that SCAD had so much to offer me that I ended up taking several classes in other departments, too, like fashion and fibers. After graduating from SCAD, I moved back to my home in Puerto Rico. I am now working as a freelance architect concentrating on building designs, interiors and custom-made furniture. My future plans are to create my own furniture and home accessories line."rn—Maruja Fuentes
