Russ Noto grew up just outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania and in 2009 graduated with a BA from Keystone College in LaPlume, PA with a concentration in sculpture. In 2006 he was commissioned to represent Keystone College in a mural project for the Scranton Parking Authority, which led to a second mural in 2007. Towards the end of his undergraduate education he was invited to be in the “Next Generation Exhibit” at the Artists for Art Gallery in Scranton, which featured young and new artists alike in the local area. As his exploration in that medium began to advance, He then turned to figurative painting as means to express his art. Presently, he is a MFA-candidate in painting at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Noto was awarded the Painting Memorial Endowed Scholarship in 2010. He has exhibited in Scranton and Savannah and is currently working with large format paintings exploring the figure and the spaces that surround and define them.
