"My name is Sam Provenza. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, La. I spent the majority of my time as a child in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, learning about the unique culture that we have in southern Louisiana. My influence comes not so much from that area, but the people who inhabit it. I started my art career in high school when I enrolled in the international baccalaureate program. After high school I came to the Savannah College of Art and Design and I enrolled in furniture design as my major and sculpture as my minor; I graduated Spring of 2007. Art is created by everyone during all periods of their lives. It is something that is inside all of us; it doesn’t matter what profession we are in, art is always part of what we do, just like it is always part of our lives. Some of us are lucky enough to have art as our career, life and passion. I am one of those lucky few. rnBringing objects into people’s lives for the sole purpose of making them more enjoyable, enriching their environment and enhancing the quality life. That is fundamentally the most important thing an artist can do. As an artist I make objects that engage the viewer, letting them decide what they are and what they mean to them.rnI feel that there is a certain connection that an artist can make to people by building the interaction that people can have with a three-dimensional object has such a great potential to influence the viewer, more so than any other medium. This is why I work almost exclusively with three-dimensional objects."rn—Samuel Provenza
