Stephen Stanley began directing films in 2000, debuting with the feature-length comedy “Slick Lily vs the Grand Canyon,” which he wrote and directed with Boris Triko. Filmed in Memphis on a shoestring budget, it managed to find a dedicated local fan base and was even named by Commercial Appeal critic John Beifuss as an honorable mention for his Best Films of 2001. “Slick Lily” was followed in 2004 by the low-budget feature-length comedy “Six Days in the Life of Mims,” which tells the story of an eccentric playboy who is planning a party to celebrate the Rapture. After finishing “Mims,” Stanley enrolled in the M.F.A. film program at SCAD. Among the highlights of his work there was his thesis film “Push,” which tells the story of a normal day in a toy store that is transformed into a music video for Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push It.” He also wrote and co-directed the short film “Statique” with classmates Chris Coyne and Alex Newton. He is living in Los Angeles where he works in the film industry.
