Shira Entis

(M.F.A., fashion design, 2005)

Shira has been sewing since she was 7-years-old, making mini-linens for her dollhouse in her hometown of Newton, Massachusetts. After attending Brown University in Providence and receiving a BA in Visual Arts, she moved to Savannah in 2003 to attend graduate school at SCAD, and received a Master’s Degree in Fashion Design in 2005.

Shira moved to New York after graduation, and designed for several womenswear companies before launching her handbag company, Fleabags, with her best friend from Brown, Alexandra Bell, in 2009. The two launched the line with their ideal flea marketing bag (hence the name), and have now expanded to include a wider range of products that all speak to a timeless and utilitarian aesthetic. Fleabags uses organic, vintage and post-production materials + leathers to be as sustainable as possible. They have recently completed collaborations with J.Crew, Macy’s and VPL.
